Blueprint ready for ATS debut in Bihar – Maharashtra model to overpower Maoists

Bihar is contemplating its own anti-terrorist squad (ATS) on the pattern of Maharashtra. Police headquarters has already prepared a blueprint for it that is under consideration of the state government.

If every thing goes as planned, Bihar may become the fourth state to have its own ATS, IG (operations) SK Bharadwaj informed. Besides Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have also constituted ATS to deal with such terror strikes.

The ATS for Bihar will be very much similar to Maharashtra’s as it had been modelled on it in composition, chain of commands and weaponry. An IG rank officer will head the ATS having its base in the state capital. Two DIGs and four SP rank officers will head operational units. The ATS will function an an independent unit having all facilities right from transportation and communication to the state-of-art equipments and weapons.
